500-hour Teacher Training Course in the Tradition of Krishnamacharya
March 4, 2023 @ 8:30 AM – March 7, 2025 @ 5:00 PM AEDT
What makes yoga teacher training in the Krishnamacharya lineage so unique?
This 500 hour program (over 2 years) celebrates the broad teachings gifted to the renowned TKV Desikachar by his father Krishnamacharya over their 30 year teacher-student relationship. The teachings have been shared through the lineage by Barbara Brian (a student of Desikachar for over 20 years) and Director of Agama Yoga Centre. This teacher training will now be conducted through her student of 21 years Jill Harris, Kyo Yoga & Healing.
The mentorship aspect of the teachings allows for a deep dive into all aspects of yoga. It is prerequisite that students have at least 1 year consistent yoga practice before starting the course and they establish personal practice as guided by a mentor throughout the program.
Program content includes (briefly):
– The History of Yoga
– Yoga Philisophy – the study of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali and other Yoga texts
– Energetic Models of Yoga – Cakras, Vayus, Pancamaya Maya
– Teaching Methodology & Course Planning (asana, pranayama, meditation).
– Introduction to Ayurveda
– Mantra & Chanting
– Mentorship
This is more than a teacher training program, rather a transformative process engaging the ‘ocean of yoga tools’ that teachers before have gifted us to reduce suffering and embrace life positively.
