Ayurveda is not just a system of medicine; it’s a way of life that recognises the deep connection between human beings and the natural world. Ayurveda is all about understanding our connection to nature and the Laws of Nature that govern our existence.  

Throughout this course, we will explore the fundamental principles of Ayurveda and how they relate to our mind-body processes.

Course outline:

  1. Setting the Context for the Course: Introduction to Ayurveda and its origins; Understanding the relevance of Ayurveda in modern times.
  2. Definition of Health: Explore the Ayurvedic perspective on health and its interconnectedness.
  3. Concept of Mahabhutas and Doshas: Learn about the five elements (Mahabhutas) and their influence on health; Understand the concept of Doshas (Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and their significance.
  4. Concept of Prakruti and Vikruti : Dive deep into the individual constitution (Prakruti) and its impact on health; Examine the concept of imbalance (Vikruti) and its manifestations.
  5. Understanding Gunas of Mind: Explore the qualities of the mind (Gunas) and their effects on overall well-being.
  6. Concept of Ama and Agni: Discover the role of digestive fire (Agni) and its importance in maintaining health; Learn about toxins (Ama) and their impact on the body.
  7. Concept of Ojas: Understand the vital essence (Ojas) and its role in promoting vitality and immunity.
  8. Preventative Efforts for Managing Doshas/Ama/Gunas/Digestion: Explore Ayurvedic lifestyle practices for maintaining balance and preventing imbalances.
  9. Integrating it All: Learn how to incorporate Ayurvedic principles into daily life; Explore practical tips for integrating Ayurveda with other healing modalities.

Program Facilitators

Neerja Ahuja is Principal Consultant and Director, Ayurveda Awareness Centre (AAC). She is a trained consultant, therapist and classroom facilitator for courses run by AAC for nearly two decades now. Neerja leads regular educational seminars and workshops including cooking demos and weekend residential Ayurveda Retreats for nurturing and healing. Neerja’s work as course facilitator for nationally recognised courses, seminars, workshops, retreats and consultations with thousands of clients, has deepened her understanding of human psychology and why and how people get sick and how they can truly heal.

Neerja is founder board member for Ayurveda for ANTA (Australian Natural Therapists Association) and an approved Registered Senior Teacher by Yoga Australia. 

Dr Rajen Cooppan (MBChB, MD, Adv. Dip. Ayurveda, Dip. Nutritional and Natural Medicine) runs his GP Practice in South Africa, and has integrated Functional and Nutritional Medicine into his practice. He has lectured worldwide on the integration of Ayurvedic principles in life and medical practice. Has lectured internationally on Ayurvedic Medicine, Natural Medicine, and Nutritional Medicine. 

He is guest facilitator for the program.

We encourage you to explore the evidence and make informed decisions regarding the integration of Ayurvedic practices into your medical practice. We firmly believe that anything that has lasted such a long time is robust and has been giving results to people using it.

Q: Will this program qualify me to practise Ayurveda professionally?

A: The Ayurveda Appreciation Program provides foundational knowledge and appreciation of Ayurveda; however, it does not qualify you to practise Ayurveda as a licensed professional. If you are interested in pursuing a career as an Ayurvedic practitioner, we recommend exploring specialised certification programs that offer in-depth training and meet the requirements for professional practice. We run programs of longer duration. Talk to us about them.
