Inspire Yoga Level 1 Teacher Training

October 24, 2023 @ 8:30 AM October 24, 2024 @ 5:00 PM AEDT

Next Course begins February, 2024

350Hour Inspire Yoga Teacher Training is suitable for students who have practiced Yoga for a minimum of twelve months and are either looking to deepen their yoga practice, or are interested in becoming a Level 1 accredited yoga teacher.

Our intention is to provide a safe space to guide you, challenge you and allow your practice to evolve to wherever your intentions are set.

You’ll get time to know and understand your strengths and weaknesses as you step into your vulnerability with courage. More importantly you will get to know yourself a whole lot more on and off your yoga mat.

The primary contact hours consist of one weekend a month through 2021, plus a seven day Bali retreat in July/August. Among other things, the course covers all aspects of planning a yoga class, human physiology, the business of yoga and the fundamentals of yoga therapy.

History of Yoga

We will discover the history of this ancient practice and how it has come to be so popular in the West. You will learn yogic cosmology concepts, the cosmos seen as a play of energy and consciousness. We will understand the five principles of matter and how they make up all that is perceptible.

Anatomy and Physiology

There will be an overview of the main systems in the body and how these are affected by a Yoga practice. There is a large focus on the musculoskeletal system, the plains and mechanics of movement and the key muscles used in the main Yoga postures.

This component will be taught by the Principal Physiotherapist at Inspire Physiotherapy, Leanne Hughes who has been in clinical practice for over 18 years.

Philosophy

We will study the main philosophical yoga texts:

Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, one of the primary texts on the path of Yoga to Shamadi or enlightenment. Including the Yamas (restraints) and Nyamas (observances) and how they relate to our current day.

The Bhagavad Gita which is considered one of the most important philosophical classics of the world. Mahatma Gandhi writes in The Gita according to Gandhi: “The object of The Gita appears to me to be that of showing the most excellent way to attain self-realization…By desire less action; by renouncing fruits of action; by dedicating all activities to God, i.e., by surrendering oneself to Him body and soul.” Gandhi called the Gita: The Gospel of Selfless Action.

Energy Systems

In depth study of the Chakra System and practices that can be used to bring the energy system into balance.

These centres allow energy to flow from one part of the body to another. Each centre governs specific emotional, spiritual and mental aspects of ourselves. We function optimally when all our chakras are in balance. There are specific Yoga and meditation practices that can help bring the chakras into balance and each of us to full health. The Chakras detail a path to enlightenment. As we mature toward a more spiritual existence, each centre teaches us necessary lessons on the path to becoming spiritually mature.

Yoga Practices

You will learn the various components of a Yoga class and how to incorporate asansa, relaxation, meditation, pranayama, mantra and more. You will learn how to theme classes and to incorporate the many facets of a Yoga practice  into your classes.
