SUMMARY:Official Yoga Australia Event: How to Teach Yoga to Beginners
DESCRIPTION:Melbourne Yoga Teachers are invited to learn “How to Teach Beginners Yoga” at this In Person workshop\, presented by Yoga Australia. About the EventTeaching beginners Yoga is both a skill and an art. Any Yoga Teacher will come across beginner students in their vocation. Often\, as a new teacher we start our career teaching beginners. Should you put them at the back of the class and tell them to follow? Or should we (as teachers) develop our knowledge to teach them correctly and safely\, so they actually learn how to practice yoga? Teaching beginners is challenging because they have not acquired any knowledge OR their perception of yoga is limited to what they have been seen; via social media for example. As teachers\, we need to remember what is actually like to be a newbie\, each student attending a class for the first time will have their own expectations\, assumptions or past experiences to take into consideration. Join Jacqueline Brumley & Shimon Tchobutaru (Registered Senior & Level 2 Yoga Australia teachers) on this unique workshop where you will be guided on how and what to teach beginners. The 3-hour workshop is both practical and theory based. Agenda:Welcome & Introductions– with talk on the topic of “how the teach beginners”.\n\nHandout on the Yoga asanas and basic practices beginners should learn to build a sound foundation in learning Yoga.\n\nSequencing the practices so beginners learn systematically.\n\nHow to teach beginners about body awareness.\n\nTeaching 2 mock classes: 1. where everyone is a beginner and 2. Where there are beginners in an on-going class.\n\nHow to teach with clear\, concise information and not overload beginners with too much information. Teach with “bite size information”.\n\nTeaching beginners the full Yogic breath.\n\nBasic relaxation techniques.\n\nQ & A.What to Bring:Mindful AF Yoga Studio in Emerald will have blocks\, yoga mats and straps to use during this event. You are welcome to bring you own if you prefer. Bring your own water bottle\, wear comfortable loose clothing. There are cafes within walking distance as well as street parking available on the main road. Additional parking can be found at the Hills Hub (5 min walk) or Ritchies IGA parking (5 min walk). Who should attend this event:Yoga Teachers\, Yoga Therapists & Teachers in Training. We welcome both Yoga Australia members & non-members to attend. It’s an opportunity to connect with other professionals in the region and learn from not only the presenters\, but one another. What other’s have said:“From training with Jacqui & Shimon I have finally learnt the proper skill set to teach beginners Yoga in a correct and thorough way.
