DESCRIPTION:Practicing Chair yoga is a great gift for a number of reasons.\n\nIt might be that you need support for the poses; you might have a knee or hip that’s not coping well with weight bearing; or you might not have the time or space to roll out your mat.\n\nUsing a chair\, poses can be gentle or strong\, and I’ll teach both.\n\nI will be giving detailed alignment instructions for the actions\, and introducing new actions each week.\n\n\n\nThere will be video recordings of the live sessions so if you can’t make a live session all is not lost.\n\n\n\nMy intention\, my hope is that over the ten sessions you will learn enough to be able to create your own practice.\n\n\n\nThere’s such ease in pulling out a chair and doing some stretches. Such support for building strength. Such a great opportunity to be drawn in to the quiet inside\, as the outer body moves.

DESCRIPTION:Improve your memory and focus. –  Reduce mental agitation  –  Increase your breath capacity. –  Improve listening and communication skills –  Find and refine your own voice  –   Increase your self confidence. –  Strengthen you spiritual connection  –  Gain an overall sense of well-being!! \nVedic Chanting is yoga\, it is concentration\, meditation\, it is prāṇāyāma\, it is jñāna and it is bhakti. It is a commitment to learning something very deep. \nI am asked what the Vedas have to do with Yoga. Well\, the Vedas contain it\, the Vedas are themselves Yoga. That is what this is all about. \nThat said\, you don’t need anything to practice and learn. If you want to know something in you that will surprise you a lot\, this will surely interest you. It is not easy\, but it is enriching. It is not quick\, but it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. \nChanting controls and transforms the Prāṇā\, it is a feeling of merging with the Universal vibration\, and it is rediscovering oneself anew in a practice very little known in the West. \nIn these classes you will learn how to pronounce Sanskrit\, you will learn the correct way to recite some Vedic mantras\, such as the popular Gāyatrī\, as it was taught in ancient times\, unchanged\, orally and following the rules of a South Indian lineage. \nYou don’t need to know how to sing\, or how to tune\,  in Vedic Chanting we only use 3 notes not 7 as in music \, this makes it accessible to everyone! \nChanting classes are conducted seated\, either on the floor or on a chair. It is important to feel comfortable so that you are able to focus only on the sound.  All chants will be taught through a “call and response” methodology\, using the aid of chant texts. The basic rules of Chanting\, along with general meanings of chants will be explained. \nThese classes are for you if you want to learn more about mantra practice. It is a commitment to learning something very deep. \nI am asked what the Vedas have to do with Yoga. Well\, the Vedas contain it\, the Vedas are themselves Yoga. That is what this is all about. \nThat said\, you don’t need anything to practice and learn. If you want to know something in you that will surprise you a lot\, this will surely interest you. It is not easy\, but it is enriching. It is not quick\, but it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. \nChanting controls and transforms the Prāṇā\, it is a feeling of merging with the Universal vibration\, and it is rediscovering oneself anew in a practice very little known in the West. \nIn these classes you will learn how to pronounce Sanskrit\, you will learn the correct way to recite some Vedic mantras\, such as the popular Gāyatrī\, as it was taught in ancient times\, unchanged\, orally and following the rules of a South Indian lineage. \nYou don’t need to know how to sing\, or how to tune\,  in Vedic Chanting we only use 3 notes not 7 as in music \, this makes it accessible to everyone! \nChanting classes are conducted seated\, either on the floor or on a chair. It is important to feel comfortable so that you are able to focus only on the sound.  All chants will be taught through a “call and response” methodology\, using the aid of chant texts. Furthermore\, this guide accommodates the needs of people with a diverse range of movement\, in terms of injuries\, structure\, strength and flexibility. Offering comprehensive advice in modifying yoga practice\, David takes account of the huge variability in people doing yoga practice and examines how to deal intelligently with this variability.  \nFees include accommodation\, breakfast and lunch. Dinner is available at the centre of a short walk into Assisi where there is a wide range of restaurants. DESCRIPTION:Improve your memory and focus. –  Reduce mental agitation  –  Increase your breath capacity. –  Improve listening and communication skills –  Find and refine your own voice  –   Increase your self confidence. –  Strengthen you spiritual connection  –  Gain an overall sense of well-being!! \nVedic Chanting is yoga\, it is concentration\, meditation\, it is prāṇāyāma\, it is jñāna and it is bhakti. It is a commitment to learning something very deep. \nI am asked what the Vedas have to do with Yoga. Well\, the Vedas contain it\, the Vedas are themselves Yoga. That is what this is all about. \nThat said\, you don’t need anything to practice and learn. If you want to know something in you that will surprise you a lot\, this will surely interest you. It is not easy\, but it is enriching. It is not quick\, but it is one of the most beautiful things I have ever heard. \nChanting controls and transforms the Prāṇā\, it is a feeling of merging with the Universal vibration\, and it is rediscovering oneself anew in a practice very little known in the West. \nIn these classes you will learn how to pronounce Sanskrit\, you will learn the correct way to recite some Vedic mantras\, such as the popular Gāyatrī\, as it was taught in ancient times\, unchanged\, orally and following the rules of a South Indian lineage. \nYou don’t need to know how to sing\, or how to tune\,  in Vedic Chanting we only use 3 notes not 7 as in music \, this makes it accessible to everyone! \nChanting classes are conducted seated\, either on the floor or on a chair. It is important to feel comfortable so that you are able to focus only on the sound.  All chants will be taught through a “call and response” methodology\, using the aid of chant texts. The basic rules of Chanting\, along with general meanings of chants will be explained. \nThese classes are for you if you want to learn more about mantra practice. DESCRIPTION:Saturday 14th June\, 5:30pm-6:45pm \nSOBA Studio\, 359 Montague Road\, West End \nAll bodies/identities are welcome \nJanita (Whole Hearted Harpist)\, Ogden (Harp) and Lori (Yoga Teacher) will hold space for deep rest. \nWe will explore long-held postures\, using props to fill the spaces between the curves of our bodies. With a full sense of stable support\, our heart-rate slows\, the breath deepens\, muscles relax\, tension releases. Restoration and integration takes place. \nLive harp will support our journey. We will focus our attention on sound as a meditative anchor to the present moment. Our sense organs will be nourished and calmed. \nThis is an invitation of cellular level remembrance on what ease and rest can feel like. We promote the deepest level of relaxation to alleviate the marks that stress has left on the mind-body-heart. \nBreathe is medicine. Rest is radical. Sound is healing. \n  \nWe look forward to sharing this moment with you \n  \nWith warmth\, \nJanita and Lori \n**** Please know\, underlying emotions and physical sensations can give rise during practices of stillness and meditation. While we can practice opening to and nurturing these experiences\, it may feel confronting for some who have good reasons for seeking movement when distress arises. Space will be held and the harp will act as another anchoring point if the breath may not yet feel like a safe resting place. Permission is given for you to participate in whatever ways you may need to feel safe. \nWhat to bring: \nWhen the body relaxes\, body temperature can drop. Blankets are provided but do bring a pair of socks to keep your feet toasty!
