DESCRIPTION:This is an opportunity to learn about yourself as you immerse yourself in India and all it has to offer you. We will stay at Sangam World Centre in Pune\, India and spend our days exploring Indian culture and volunteering at Maher. Maher means ‘Mothers Home’ and is a place where some of India’s most vulnerable find themselves. The team at Maher does an incredible job and we have the privilege of working alongside them for 5 days. What you discover about yourself during this experience is guaranteed to be unexpected. As well as volunteering you will get to be part of Indian life as we hang out with friends and family as well as visit places of historic\, religious and cultural significance in Pune. This is the place that I have called home for over 30 years and I know the how to take you right inside the lanes of the city to fully immerse yourself in the sights\, sounds and smells of India. We’ll also get out in nature and visit some expansive landscapes. There will be daily Yoga on offer as well as opportunities for sound healing\, massage and sunrises/sunsets in this stunning location. As usual on jenbarronADVENTURES you can participate in these additional activities as little or as much as you like. DESCRIPTION:Have you ever wondered what goes into sequencing; why some asanas come before others or why teachers provide alternative sequences to individual students? Have you ever seen a teacher make those hierographic notes at the end of a class? It’s a sort of language in itself. Our Yoga Studies program runs monthly on Saturday afternoons where students can come together to develop skills and explore the principles behind what we do. It’s a chance to meet with other like-minded people These 3-hour sessions are comprised of A presentation where we identify a principle in practice.An asana practice taken by a trainee teacher or group leader.Work in small groups to discuss and apply these principles.Saturdays 1.30-4.30pm. Attendance can be either studio and virtual Cost: Usual class payment. Bookings are made on the timetable page with a class card\, monthly membership or individual class purchase Timetable. Yoga Studies will run in Week 3 & 9 this term. Our Term 2\, 2023 dates are listed below. DESCRIPTION:About the Event Yoga Australia have organised this event in line with National Pain Week 2023\, helping to raise awareness of the benefits of yoga for pain relief.  Chronic Lower back pain and other unresolved neuromuscular skeletal issues affect 600 million people worldwide!  Conventional Physical Therapy and medical treatments include addictive drugs\, surgeries and years of costly pain management which do not necessarily address the underlying causes of chronic pain. Given the physical and psychological aspects associated with Chronic neuromuscular skeletal pain\, it follows that any successful treatment would be best if it addresses both the mind and body\, which is what makes yoga such an effective option. However\, Yoga has not yet received the same level of respect and recognition from the scientific community as other alternative medicines. That is beginning to change.  Healthcare professionals and researchers\, like myself\, are finding consensus around why yoga is such a powerful tool. Not only in preventing and treating chronic neuromuscular skeletal pain but also in regulating the underlying stress response and negative emotional states at the root of the issue.“[Chronic Back pain ] is one of the most pervasive\, misunderstood and under-serviced health issues in the world today” Professor Harald Breivik\,International Association for the Study of Pain. This workshop describes Prānāyāma techniques such as Nadi Shuddhi\, Sama Vrtti & Chandra Bhedana incorporating breath wave\, bandhas\, mantra\, visualisation\, digital count & metronome. Attendees new to these techniques will have the opportunity to practice & work with Jess towards proficiency ahead of teaching their students. You will also learn how to work in collaboration with their clients & students to prescribe the most appropriate Prānāyāma techniques for physical\, psychological & spiritual wellbeing. The second component of the workshop focuses on Yogic Chakra meditation which builds on the Prānāyāma techniques already described. This complex method works with the Chakra system to balance body\, mind and spirit through a multi-layered approach. The technique is used to accelerate spiritual evolution & insight\, & activate higher brain centres. About the Presenter: Jessica teaches Ashtanga Vinyasa and Restorative Yoga\, focusing on much more than the physical practice (Asana) and includes breathing techniques (Pranayama) and meditation in her classes. Her methods support students to accept where they find themselves\, assist them to progress along their own unique path and reconnect them with their inner Guru. She uses variations to ensure students are safe\, but appropriately challenged.  Anchored in the Ashtanga tradition – with gratitude for the wisdom and teachers that came before her – Jessica began practicing yoga in 2001 and fell so deeply in love with the discipline\, she now teaches private\, group and corporate classes in order to share its gifts. Her more focused learning was born under the tutelage of Gregor Maehle and Monica Gauci\, commencing in 2016\, where she realised the invaluable benefits of the teacher/student relationship.
