SUMMARY:The Mechanics of Asana: Yoga Technique for Teachers and Students
DESCRIPTION:In the yoga world\, “alignment” often gets a bad rap—and for good reason. The truth is\, no two bodies are the same\, and there’s no universal set of instructions that can ‘align’ every kind of body in every yoga pose perfectly (for example\, the well-intentioned advice: “Stretch your arms out to the sides\, your arm span is your ideal stance width”). \nHowever… the value of technique cannot be overstated. Much like the specific technique applied in gyms\, dance studios\, or by elite athletes\, learning technique in asana can greatly enhance the safety and enjoyment of poses for both you and your students. Unlike rigid alignment principles\, technique moves beyond the one-size-fits-all template for poses and respects the unique structural variations and abilities of each student. \nFor yoga teachers and keen practitioners\, an in-depth understanding of technique is essential\, yet it’s often not thoroughly explored in standard 200-hour training programs. Delving into biomechanics based on Anusara Yoga’s Universal Principles of Alignment\, we examine how muscles\, bones\, joints\, and connective tissues collaborate to form postures\, movements\, and shapes in yoga. \nI invite you to embark on this 20-hour journey with me. Over three Fridays we’ll delve into: \n\nFunctional movement and techniques for the upper body\nFunctional movement and techniques for the lower body\nSafe practices for inversions\nTechniques that enhance both stability and freedom within poses\nModifications that elevate the safety and efficacy of your practice\, and that of your students\nDaily asana practice sessions and homework between Fridays to help integrate learning through experience 😊\n\nPrerequisites:  Open to teachers and interested students. Teachers will receive 20CEC’s for their participation.

SUMMARY:Springbrook 1-Day Retreat
DESCRIPTION:Join us for a day of serene exploration and rejuvenation set against the stunning backdrop of Springbrook National Park. This exclusive retreat is designed to harmonize your body\, mind\, and spirit through the art of yoga\, the beauty of nature\, and the shared energy of like-minded souls. \nMorning Session: Energising Yoga Practice…\nArriving at Springbrook Community Hall\, we’ll start with a yoga practice designed to awaken your senses and open you to the beauty around you. This session promises to leave you feeling refreshed and ready to embrace the day’s adventures. \nMidday Adventure: Waterfall Hike\, Picnic\, and Personal Reflection…\nFollowing our morning practice\, we’ll embark on a scenic (and easy) hike to one of Springbrook’s breathtaking waterfalls\, where we’ll have a picnic lunch together. The path will guide us through lush forests\, inviting us to connect with nature in a profound and meaningful way. This peaceful setting offers the perfect opportunity for personal reflection; you are encouraged to wander\, meditate\, or simply bask in the serenity of the surroundings on your own. This time is yours to enjoy the beauty of nature\, recharge\, and engage in mindful contemplation. \nAfternoon Unwind: Restorative Yoga…\nAs the afternoon light softens\, we’ll head back to Springbrook Community Hall for a restorative yoga class. This practice is designed to soothe and heal your body after our hike\, using supportive props to assist in deep relaxation and alignment. It’s a time to reflect\, release any remaining tension\, and bask in the peaceful energy of our surroundings. \nWhat to Bring:\nTo ensure you get the most out of this retreat\, please bring your own yoga mat\, any yoga props you may have (blocks\, bolsters\, straps)\, a water bottle\, sunscreen\, comfortable hiking shoes\, and your lunch and a blanket for the picnic. I have a limited number of props available for the restorative class\, so any props you can bring for yourself and to share will be appreciated! \nThis retreat is more than just a day away; it’s an opportunity to deeply connect with yourself\, with nature\, and with a community of fellow yogis. Spaces are limited to preserve the quality and intimacy of the experience\, so please reserve your spot early. \nI can’t wait to share this special day with you!
