DESCRIPTION:What is “fusion yoga”?\nIt’s a blend of (often opposing) yoga styles in one session that takes the student from one state of being to another. \nMany people recognise the Taiji symbol of Yin/Yang – one black and one white teardrop shape that merge into each other\, encompassed by a circle. Each teardrop contains within it a small “seed” of the other\, to acknowledge the dualistic nature of the world\, it’s forces and its inhabitants. \nMost yoga practices are Yang in nature. They involve movement\, flow of energy (Prana/Qi)\, are heat-building\, and work your muscles. \nYin Yoga is the practice of stillness and surrender. DESCRIPTION:Commit to two hours of dedicated self care and time to:\n\nlearn an accessible form of yoga for any body type and ability\ncheck in with yourself and reconnect\nslowly and safely open the body for deep restoration\nuse intentional breathing techniques to induce greater ease and relaxation\n\n\nYIN YOGA is different from other yoga styles.\nIt is a practice of stillness and surrender\, the perfect counter to our rushed and busy lives. \nWith extensive mental health training and over 1000 hours of yoga teaching experience\, I will uphold your needs in care and compassion as we learn\, practice and reflect together during this 2-hour workshop. \n\nWhat to expect:\n–> Studio tour\, welcome\, housekeeping and settling in\n–> Grounding and intention setting\, present moment reflection\nShort break (5-10 mins)\n–> Theory of Yin Yoga\n–> Yin Yoga practice\n–> Practice reflection & journalling\nShort break (5-10 mins)\n–> Introduction to Yoga Nidra\n–> Yoga Nidra guided meditation practice\n–> Practice reflection & journalling\n–> Closing breathwork \n\nFAQs:\nDo I need to be fit or flexible for this type of yoga? \nYin Yoga is accessible to everyone\, of any body shape\, type\, size\, or ability. You do not even need to have had any experience with yoga! Bring your curiosity and desire to experience something not only different\, but soothing… \nHow should I prepare for this workshop? \nPhysical movement on a full stomach isn’t very comfortable! Try to have your last meal at least an hour before the start of the workshop. Dress in comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely\, and covers you modestly. Arrive 5-10 minutes before we begin so I can greet you and show you around. \nWhat do I bring with me? \nYourself\, and your water bottle. SUMMARY:What IS Yoga? 2-Hour Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join me to learn the origins of yoga\, the different forms and the yogic path associated with them\, and how Hatha Yoga\, in particular\, has been altered by modern society.\n\n\n\n\n\n\n.\nCreated for yoga novices who are curious to understand how and why the practice is more than the physical exercises and that yoga is how you choose to live your life.\n.\nHeld upstairs in the yoga room/dojo at Deshi-Do Martial Arts Centre in Oakleigh East\, this 2-hour workshop will have an inclusive\, gentle and mental health aware approach to learning the fundamentals of yoga\, as expressed through Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras as the Eight Limbs of Yoga.\n.\nThe program will include:\n❤️ opening acknowledgements\, grounding\, and intention setting\n❤️ theory with accompanying worksheets\n❤️ reflection and discussion (optional for individuals)\n❤️ short break with somatic release\n❤️ foundational asana instruction\n❤️ gentle flow routine using props with finishing restorative poses\n❤️ beginners breathwork practices\n❤️ short-form guided meditation\n❤️ closing reflections and gratitudes\n.\nMats\, props and handouts are provided\, but you may wish to bring a small towel or eye pillow for reflections and meditations\, and your water bottle to stay hydrated throughout (no glass\, please!)\n.\n(Standard Covid-19 and hygiene protocols are to be followed at all times during this event.)\n.\nPLEASE NOTE: Deshi-Do Martial Arts Studio is located at the back of a business park. Enter via either Ferntree Gully Road (at the large red pylon) or via Dublin Street and make your way to the roundabout up the back\, where signage will be easily visible.
