Sound practices offer us the opportunity to use our voice to uplift our minds, nourish our cells with vibration, and bring focus and clarity. The great Sage Patañjali offers us Yoga for the mind, Āyurveda for the body and Sanskrit and chanting to purify our ability to communicate. So we can align thought, word and deed so that we say what we mean and mean what we say. You will experience traditional mantra yoga techniques, the devotional practice of chanting and philosophy. This course teaches practical, transferable skills and mentors you personally. We draw from traditional Yogic wisdom based study, supporting you to develop your knowledge through theoretical understanding and practice. We support you to lead from your heart and be confident in your skills and express yourself and the ancient teachings in your classes and courses.

Module 1

This fun module will inspire you to keep the Sanskrit language alive for yourself and your students. Revise your connection to the ancient language of Yoga. You will learn to chant the vowels that symbolise the twelves phases of the moon and the consonants as a personal practice. Gain a deeper understanding of the importance of specificity, including mouth positions and aspiration. Experience beautiful ways in which you can bring sound practices using the alphabet into your classes if you choose.

Module 2

We will chant and unpack the Yoga sūtras that guide us in using mantra yoga practices including devotion, dhārana (meditation), mantra Japa and visualisation. Increase confidence and be inspired to integrate the knowledge of the sūtras to guide your journey and teaching. Rachel brings this text alive making it applicable and inspiring your personal practice and teaching.

Module 3

In this module, you will experience toning and projection techniques to build confidence whilst teaching, reading and chanting. As a leader, you will tune into your unique voice so you can share and lead with confidence and humility. We will explore the effects and application of sound and mantra in Yoga. Learn the seven notes of classical Indian music, explore how to use singing bowls and other percussion instruments, and music as a way of bringing Nāda Yoga as a well-thought-out layer into your Yoga classes, retreats and workshops.

Module 4

You will experience and learn how mantra yoga is an intrinsic part of āsana, prānāyāma and dhārana (meditation). The intention is to build your creativity, increase your confidence in your voice. We will engage in practice design and explore the application of these techniques with your students in group classes and private session.
