350 HOUR YOGA TEACHING TRAINING COURSE

Teacher training at Bhava is a year long journey in the community of Bhava. Trainees study yoga in its many aspects to gain qualification to teach yoga, or to immerse in a transformative personal journey.

Bhava style of teaching yoga is creative in nature; so creativity, colour, music and presentation are emphasised through the course. Sharing in the community of Bhava, the studio atmosphere, plus the camaraderie of the trainee group make the course an enriching personal experience.

COMMITMENT

Intensives are are held over 16 Sundays throughout the year from 9a.m. – 4p.m. There will be two 3 hour Extra Sessions on a Saturday from 11:30am - 2:30pm scheduled through the year.

Weekly Class attendance. Regular weekly attendance at a Yoga class is a requirement of this course and included in course fees.

Yoga lab - is a monthly class held on Thursday evenings from 7pm to 8:30pm just for teacher trainers. Here we experience a regular yoga or meditation class and put it under the microscope and examine how it works and why. You will have a chance to take notes and ask questions as we take you through the mechanics of a class. Attendance at Yoga labs are a highly recommended course requirement. There are 10 Yoga labs spread over the first three terms. If you are unable to attend, this time must be made up in additional class attendance to comply with the minimum hour course requirement.

Mentoring. We include a two month mentor period at the conclusion of our course. Each student has 2 x 1 hour mentor sessions which can be attended in person or remotely if preferred. These sessions are available from February - June 2021 and are an opportunity to help in transition from course completion to your new role as a qualified Yoga Teacher.

Meditation classes. Bhava holds monthly Meditation classes on Thursday nights.

Dates are announced each semester. Meditation classes are a recommended course requirement.

Home Study. It is expected you will complete 4-5 hours of home study/practice each week over the duration of the course. This will include revision, reading, assignments, home practice and journalling.

The Course covers a comprehensive understanding of -

Functional Anatomy and Anatomy - Principles of Movement. - Yoga Postures (Asanas) - Breathing Practices (Pranayamas) - Relaxation and Stress Management (Nidra) - Meditation (Pratyahara, Dharana & Dhyana) - Attitudes and Psychology (Mudras) - Yoga Philosophy, including study of the Yoga sutras and Eight Limbs of Yoga. - Ayurveda relevant to Yoga Practice. - Teaching Method (Creative Presentation, Student Interaction, and the ethics of teaching)  - The business of Yoga Teaching (marketing, promotion, insurance, and ethical teaching practice)

COURSE STAFF Gabrielle Boswell & Wendy Bradtke will teach the Intensives throughout the year - Each bring their own unique perspective enabling Trainees to gain a well rounded experience of Yoga. In addition, our regular Bhava teachers allow Trainees to experience a wide range of teaching styles when attending their respective classes.

Wendy is Bhava's most experienced teacher having taught continuously at the Centre since 1992. She teaches ease of movement and freedom from strain. She creates an atmosphere in class where students feel comfortable in their own range of movement. She believes flexibility, and strength in yoga go hand in hand, and that a relaxed body and mind are key to progression in yoga.

Wendy also teaches Meditation and Primordial Sound Meditation. She has studied meditation, and various aspects of Yoga & Ayurveda with Dr Deepak Chopra and Dr David Frawley at the Chopra Center in California. She is a certified Chopra Centre Meditation Instructor. She is presently undertaking a 400 hour Yoga Ayurveda and Meditation Wellness Consultant course with Dr David Frawley. Wendy is a Yoga Australia Level 3 Senior registered teacher.

Gabrielle has been teaching yoga since 2002 . Her classes explore a balance between ease and effort with a focus on the breath and deep inner listening. “When the body feels supported, it opens naturally: the breath follows and the yoga (union) unfolds”. She is a senior registered teacher with Yoga Australia and serves on the Yoga Australia board, Certified with the International Association of Yoga Therapists and is currently undertaking a 2 year Certification in iRest Yoga Nidra.
