Erika is the founder of Change with Yoga and is a qualified Yoga Therapist, Yoga Teacher, Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga facilitator and Laughter Yoga facilitator.

Erika was drawn to yoga after visiting India in 1998 which led her to have a on and off practice for 8 years. She later picked up a solid practice at the Brighton Buddhist Centre, England, in 2006. It was here that Erika became inspired to become a yoga teacher. She later returned to Australia to complete her Advanced Diploma in Yoga Teacher Training at the Australian Yoga Academy. Erika then went on to study other areas of yoga such as yogic philosophy, laughter yoga, yin yoga, trauma sensitive yoga and yoga therapy.

Erika comes from a Hatha/Vinyasa tradition and bases her classes on Patanjali’s 8 Limbs of Yoga. Her classes are powerful and challenging yet nourishing. There is a strong emphasis on mindfulness and a unique sense of playfulness to her classes. We take our practice seriously but ourselves lightly.

Erika’s classes are suitable for beginner, intermediate and advanced practitioners as various modifications are offered throughout her sessions.

Erika is a registered level 2 member with Yoga Australia and is a certified Yoga Therapist through the International Association of Yoga Therapy. Erika is also certified through the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute to facilitate Trauma Center Trauma Sensitive Yoga sessions

(TCTSY-F).

what people are saying about Erika Newberry

Anna , Bentleigh Fitness Centre

I always look forward to my yoga classes with Erika. I love the relaxing, peaceful atmosphere that she creates, setting an intention at the start and then beginning with gentle movements. Her instructions are very clear, they are directed at different levels and more advanced students are given more challenging exercises (we are a gym class so the levels are mixed). Erika also checks to see how her students are before and after class. While we finish with a brief yoga nidra meditation, Erika places a small card with a one sentence message in front of us. To sum it up: Erika is a wonderful yoga teacher. I cant recommend her highly enough.

Student from Kundalini House

Erika has been great. She has a good blend of the physical practice and meditation and is playful in her classes. I think that is quite unique and I really enjoy that aspect of her class.

Sarah, workshop with female offenders

Watching Erika with the women was profound. It was great to see them smiling and really connecting with themselves.
