Biography
| Bio | Clare is an accredited yoga therapist and yoga teaching with 20 years teaching experience. Her business, Food and Body, is based on the understanding that how we eat and move are intricately linked to how we feel and are in our bodies. The platform for her work comes from many varied yoga trainings, yoga therapy education and a certificate in Ayurveda, all blended with her earlier training as a dietitian. Her goal is to inspire and support people to care for themselves and transform their relationship with food and their body. She guides small yoga classes that are designed to provide therapeutic benefit in the search for inner balance and vitality. Through movement and other yoga practices she focuses on settling the nervous system as participants work to manage their stress, pain, sleep, anxiety and mood discomforts. Private Yoga Therapy, in-person and online sessions, offer clients an opportunity to identify the practices that support their body and mind. Clare takes a holistic approach combining western and eastern practices. Utilising kindness and compassion, with a gentle touch, she works together with her client to develop the desired change. They select from the wide range of tools that support the individual: asana, pranayama (breath work), mudra and mantra practices (hand jestures and intentions), yoga nidra, meditation, nutrition and Ayurveda principles. Yoga therapy and nutrition can play an active part in managing and assisting with chronic illness. In supporting the well-being of the mind and body they enable the body to heal. With this understanding Clare has developed a short course, “Building Better Bones”. It offers a variety of simple techniques and small, incremental lifestyle practices that over time can reduce, minimise bone loss and possibly improve bone development. The course is yoga based with nutrition, Calcium,Vitamin D and much more, and practices to reduce stress. It is designed for everyone interested in bone health and long term mobility, including those who are already applying other strategies, to maintain bone, such as weights and or medication. Clare lives in Hobart, Tasmania where the beauty and air inspire her yoga and her painting. After spending many years in the UK and Zambia she shares the joy of Zambia with small group adventures. If you are interested in exploring this amazing country with the gentle touch of yoga, details of the next trip are @ Yoga Safari. Life is rich. |
