Biography
| Bio | Andy Daws (fka Swami Dharmavanam Saraswati) is a colourfully-lived meditator and yogi who has practised yoga/meditation daily since 1989 and taught since 1996.
Comprehensively trained & qualified in 3 lineages: Satyananda Yoga, Integral Yoga (of Swami Venkatesananda) and in the Mahayana and Vajrayana traditions of Tibetan Buddhism, Andy’s 27 years of extensive teaching experience draws upon, and has deep roots in a vast knowledge on all aspects of Meditation, yoga and breathwork.
For many years Andy successfully managed various Satyananda Yoga Centres throughout Australia, South Africa, Spain, Italy and Wales; created & delivered Yoga and Meditation Teacher Training and Course Syllabuses; lived in Satyananda ashrams in India and abroad to undertake advanced yogic, meditation, and sannyasa training and service work. He was initiated as a Swami in the Dashnami Saraswati tradition.
Andy has worked extensively in crisis intervention, from the A to Z marginalised in society to those aspiring spiritual depth work. This has bequeathed him with a deep understanding and empathy of the human condition using a trauma informed and person-centred approach
His teaching and mentorship approach is warmly engaging, poetically insightful, humorous, clear and precise. All sessions are taught in a systematic, progressive manner moving from the gross to subtle. He holds you in a safe, supportive space where you are honoured, faithfully witnessed and challenged. Comfort is traded for shelter inviting a deep willingness and capacity for presence, embodiment and wonder.
An adept of eloquence and innovative language, Andy communicates the vast art of meditation and yoga through classes, masterclasses, seminars, workshops in a refreshing inventiveness that enthuses and enlightens aspirants: speaking to you of what is possible to be a human being – undertaking spirit work for a time yet to come.
Andy is also a highly qualified and experienced Shiatsu Therapist and educator having been in practice for 26 years. He specialises in Zen and Somatic Shiatsu and successfully treated many acute and chronic health conditions, and for ameliorating your spiritual practice & depth work.
He has taught at a couple of Shiatsu schools, presented at national conferences, and had articles published in international journals.
One slowly makes something worth seeing by eyes that have yet to be conceived.
