Biography
| Bio | Ernestine took her first yoga class out of curiosity over 25 years ago. Although being gym-fit, she was surprised to find that yoga was not quite as easy as it looked. But she also found herself immediately hooked on the way she felt after the class. Not exhausted or depleted but invigorated, refreshed and comfortable in her skin. She wanted more. Soon she found her body adapting and moving with ease throughout the day. After some time she also noticed a permanent shift in her stress levels. Even an old injury due to a serious ski accident was no obstacle for her to do yoga. In fact, yoga helped to keep the pain away and keep her mobile. This, and the newly found freedom of children leaving the nest, motivated her to start her teacher training in 2010. When she qualified as an advanced yoga teacher from the Victorian Institute of Yoga Teachers Training (VIYETT) in 2011, she aimed to emanate her own favourite yoga teachers: These are the ones that make their students feel special, considerate of their needs and have a creative and informative approach to all the fascinating aspects of yoga. There is so much more to yoga than just the poses. Even as a teacher she feels she remains a student. Continuous expansion of her yoga smorgasbord, she feels is a necessity to stay fresh and motivated not only for herself, but also for her students. ‘It’s wonderful to know what our bodies and minds are capable of. It never ceases to amaze me’, she says.
Ernestine would like to offer her students the opportunity to feel supported in their journey to being healthy, happy and relaxed, no matter what shape or age they are. She also specialises in Yoga for teenagers and has developed several school programs.
