Biography

Bio

I discovered yoga’s grounding qualities almost 40 years ago and it has been a constant in my life ever since. My first foray into this ancient form was via Iyengar yoga which gave me a great foundation with its strong emphasis on alignment and use of props. Later I fell in love with the link between movement and breath that vinyasa offers.

I undertook 500 hours of teacher training with Byron Yoga over 2009/10 and commenced teaching classes on a regular basis soon thereafter. Since that time I’ve studied and trained with some wonderful local and international teachers; gaining knowledge from each and every one of them helping me to grow as a both a yoga practitioner and teacher.

My yoga practice, as well as what I guide, has continued to evolve. As a younger woman I liked to challenge myself with the physicality of strong asana but over the past decade or so I’ve been exploring the subtleties of somatics, gentle and restorative yoga as well as the flowing meditatitve qualities of qigong – whilst maintaining the fluid nature of the breath with movement practice of vinyasa.

I now practice and guide an integrated variety of different elements of my learings and experience and have created my own style which I’ve coined “Mellow Moves” – a unique blend of the mindful qualities of somatics, the meditative flowing movements of qigong and gentle yoga aiming to bring peace, space and ease to both body and mind.

BKS Iyengar said it best when he said – “Yoga is a light which once lit, it will never dim’.
