Biography

Bio

Hello I am Marina. I’m a Yoga Therapist and Instructor, Lifestyle Medicine provider, Wellbeing Coach, Counsellor, Wellbeing Consultant, Mental Health Professional (Public Health) and Lawyer with 20 years experience of working in wellbeing and mental health.

For the past 10 years I have offered Brisbane-based yoga classes and Retreats. I bring a collaborative, accessible and compassionate approach to my classes, retreats, workshops and private sessions. I believe yoga is a key lifestyle ingredient that can support healthy living at any age and any person can benefit from yoga’s holistic approach to wellbeing.

As a psychology-trained Counsellor, I believe in yoga’s (research-based) usefulness to support the need to rest, alleviate stress, anxiety and burnout, process trauma and distress, and support positive mental health.

Hence, I offer Yoga Therapy, Wellbeing Coaching and Counselling to promote mental health and wellbeing (please contact [email protected] for appointments).

I am particularly interested in assisting people to:

– enhance wellbeing and address stress and distress through Lifestyle as Medicine, which enables people to explore and learn about their health and wellbeing needs using a fusion of yoga and meditation, biomedical, psychotherapeutic and psychological approaches;

– support women approaching or experiencing midlife, The Menopause, female aging and maturation, and elderhood to embrace the transformational process of their lives to enable flourishing;

– assist people experiencing acute stress, fatigue and exhaustion, and chronic pain to manage their experiences through a Lifestyle Medicine lens that incorporates integrative therapies, such as yoga therapy and counselling.

– prevent ill-being, illness and injury by collaboratively developing integrative practices tailored to clients’ specific needs (body, mind and lifestyle) to enable regular practice;

– meet people’s mental health needs through holistic body-mind therapy that incorporates coaching,  counselling/psychological approaches and yoga and meditation practices suited to client needs and preferences.

My new Retreats and Courses, Weavers: Women Weaving Wellbeing and Wisdom, for women approaching or experiencing midlife, The Menopause and elderhood are designed to enable women to restory The Menopause, midlife and female elderhood, uniquely experience their lives through different perspectives, and engage in a transformative healing process that supports their health and wellbeing.

My deeply nurturing Restorative Retreats enable people to cultivate calm and deeply connect with the art of rest and themselves. The Restorative Retreats are a highly nurturing and personalised experience for small groups.

My weekly yoga classes at my Garden Studio or Ironside Physiotherapy (Ironside Yoga) are designed to support mobility, strength, mental health and inner balance. These are a great foundation for ongoing regular yoga practice to support wellbeing.

I am passionate about preventing ill-being, illness and injury and enjoy collaborating on projects with peers. So if you are a yoga teacher, health practitioner of any kind, studio owner or other like-minded professional please feel free to contact me to discuss possibilities.

You can contact me about my offerings or to discuss collaboration at [email protected] and 0428294979.

I am a Level 3 member of Yoga Australia and a Practitioner Member of the Australasian Society for Lifestyle Medicine. I have a Masters in Yoga Therapy with the Biomedical Institute of Yoga and Meditation (BIYOME). I hold an honours level degree in Psychology from Monash University (my thesis was on wellbeing and perfectionism) and undergraduate degrees from QUT and UQ. I am currently undertaking a Masters in Counselling and Psychotherapy with the Australian College of Applied Professions (ACAP).
