Biography

Bio

Nicole (she/her) has been practicing yoga for over 25 years and brings a trauma-sensitive lens to her teaching, shaped by more than two decades of experience in mental health.

An Accredited Social Worker with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW) 675774, Nicole holds an Honours degree by research, reflecting her commitment to evidence-informed practice. Her counselling and yoga teaching are grounded in polyvagal theory and extensive trauma training, supporting nervous system regulation, embodied safety, and emotional resilience.

Nicole teaches other mental health professionals how to integrate embodied practices and somatic awareness tools into their work—complementing talk-based therapies with accessible, body-informed approaches.

She has taught for Foundation House in Victoria, supporting communities impacted by torture and trauma, and brings a culturally responsive, inclusive approach to all her offerings.

As the founder of Go Slow Yoga, Nicole offers welcoming, body-positive classes that are accessible to people of all levels and backgrounds. Her approach is gentle, adaptive, and especially suited to those seeking an alternative to fast-paced studio environments. Go Slow Yoga also features restorative yoga—a deeply nourishing practice that supports rest, renewal, and reconnection.

Nicole’s yoga clients include Anglicare NT, Australian Volunteers International (AVI), The Environment Centre NT, Banksia Gardens Community Services (Vic), and NDIS providers. She has taught in clinical settings, at conferences, in community spaces, and regularly online. She currently offers in-person classes in Darwin, facilitates international retreats, and continues to advocate for inclusive, trauma-informed yoga for everyone.

Nicole is currently the only Level 2 Yoga Australia registered teacher in the Northern Territory.
