Skye Thomas
Biography
| Bio | Namaste Skye began attending yoga classes in 2002, at university to support a busy schedule of study, work and sport. Her personal practise developed more strongly in 2010 to support her first pregnancy and in 2011, the birth of her first daughter. As her practise shifted and deepened she knew that yoga was an integral part of her lifestyle. Skye graduated from UNSW as an Accredited Exercise Physiologist in 2006. She then undertook pre and post natal teacher training to support women in the transition through pregnancy and birth. Skye started teaching “Mum’s and Bub’s yoga” in 2014. In 2016, Skye completed her 200 hour Teacher Training with Laura Humphreys. Diving deep into Yoga Philosophy, Pranayama, Alignment and Adjustments and Intelligent Sequencing. In 2017-2022, Skye joined Laura Humphreys as part of her teaching faculty for her 200hr teacher trainings – teaching the “Anatomy and Physiology for Yoga Teachers” component. Skye has combined her Yoga training with her background in Exercise Physiology to teach a range of clients from pre/post natal, musculoskeletal complaints, teenage dancers, pony club groups, corporate and general population. https://www.instagram.com/expand_yoga/ Skye loves to learn and loves to read and has continued to study yoga over the past two decades. Skye has learnt from teachers in person in Australia and online from teachers overseas. She is excited to do some more study this year with Tahl and Bess from “Creature Yoga”. Skye has been involved with Therapy Matters, a Speech Pathology Company since 2020. Delivering yoga classes and supportive wellness education to the team. Hear what Director Tania Teitzel has to say: “In early 2020, Therapy Matters were searching for a calm, grounded, insightful and caring yoga teacher to provide well-being benefits to our team. What a gift we found in Skye Thomas! Skye started with us in the whirlwind of the beginnings of the Co-VID pandemic. She showed flexibility by providing on-line yoga experiences for our whole team transitioning to in person services when we were able. When we asked Skye in 2022 to provide some broader support to nurture the health of our team, she developed a team day training session and monthly blogs with invaluable self-care messages. As a director, I see this contribution as invaluable for a workplace of women who are often juggling the busy demands of work and family and giving to others. Skye’s services have been an opportunity for our team to receive gifts for themselves. Skye has listened intuitively to our team and skilfully matches her services to their immediate needs and the needs of the season. I am so grateful for the impact Skye has on our team and their wellbeing. She has made an invaluable difference in their lives as speech pathologists, mothers and daughters as well as to the lives of our clients and community.” Skye has been featured in the Sydney Morning Herald – Sunday Magazine Skye also enjoys presenting on Yoga and Holistic wellness in the modern day at Corporate training days and retreats. Skye and her husband Adam, own and run “Integrated Sports and Spinal Clinic” in Burleigh Waters on the Gold Coast. https://www.integratedsportsandspinalclinic.com/about |
