Just as our thoughts and emotions can affect how we breathe, the way we breathe also shapes our mental state. When we work with the breath, our aim is to bring calm and focus to the mind, preparing it for meditation. People wonder can Pranayama can be risky, but it is no more unsafe than practicing Asanas when done correctly. Pranayama simply means mindful, intentional breathing and as long as we remain aware of how our body responds there is no cause for concern.
