Course Overview
This course will teach you how to be an amazing yoga teacher. By combining both western and eastern frameworks, we will show you how to confidently assess client needs and develop and teach personalised classes that get results. Along the way, you will enhance and extend your personal yogic abilities and knowledge. This will provide you with a great depth of knowledge so that you will be a confident and effective yoga teacher.
You will be learning from a highly qualified and extremely experienced teacher who will share over 25 years of experience and professional education. Your learning will be focused around a framework that is both practical and outcome-based, and you will be practicing teaching from the very first face-to-face workshop in a safe and supportive environment. With a mix of online content, video demonstrations, interactive and face-to-face workshops, and a 3-day retreat you will cover theory, anatomy & physiology, applied meridians and applied postures along with all the essential foundational skills to start and run your own yoga business.
This course covers not just the basic yoga teacher training, but focuses on six oriental influences, bringing together western and eastern frameworks and applying them specifically to yoga moves. You will view yoga through the lens of Traditional Chinese Medicine and in particular the meridians. This will give you superior knowledge about the functioning of the human body and enable you to assess your client’s needs and develop, write, sequence, and teach personalised yoga classes that will set you up for success in your business. You will be able to differentiate yourself from other competitors in the industry and your overall knowledge of yoga poses, sequences and class development will be greater and achieve better results, not just for you but for your own clients.
You will be supervised and mentored all the way through the course. The student portal is easy, time efficient and comprehensive. You will get structured class plans and guidelines that are tried and proven plus all the templates to construct your own classes. You will be able to build your own resources and notes that you can add to throughout your career. Your assessments are designed to build confidence, skills and knowledge and are completed throughout the course with a final celebration graduation that you can share with the friends you have made during the course.

This course is designed to take aspiring yoga teachers on a journey from being a client in a class, to being a student of yoga teaching and finally to become a confident, qualified yoga teacher.

CORE CONTENT MODULES

Each core content module has a specific area of yoga focus – you will complete one per month

Theory – the module theory and systematic table of correspondence; you will identify and describe clients with deficiencies and excess energies; the relation to the upper and lower body balance; the six Chinese physiology functions of the body; its diagnostic features and the three main western medical conditions and their causes, symptoms and treatments

Applied meridians – you will demonstrate the location of the meridians and body parts as applied to yoga
-
Element & meridian postures – combining the theory and applied meridians you will learn how to set up and the instructions, breathing techniques and delivery options for the relevant moves

You will learn how to summarise the contraindications for the posture for a specific client health requirement

You will learn how to demonstrate the postures with correct technique, setup, positioning, breathing, syncopation, focal points, repetitions and speed of delivery
PRACTICAL WORKSHOPS
-
The practical workshops are where you will put into practice your new yoga knowledge. In each workshop you will be supported and guided to ensure that you can practise the relevant moves learnt throughout the monthly core content module. You will also practise teaching the moves in a supported, safe environment. This will ensure that you are confident and ready to teach because you will be exposed to teaching from the very first workshop.

Learn how to modify element postures to suit a variety of client skill levels, including beginners, general and advanced clients

Utilise the provided template to design 3 classes

Learn the 8-fold system for class balance

Outline a sequencing protocol to design a morning class with 20 to 30 postures

TEACHING METHODOLOGY

You will learn how to demonstrate correct teaching methodology in reference to a variety of clients using demonstration, assisting, verbal and non-verbal cues and correct physical adjustments

Use correct lead-up moves

Complete client history forms using the four diagnostic methods and intake procedures
SPECIALTY UNITS

In the final month of the course, you will complete one specialty unit and have the option to complete two further specialty units

You will develop a short yoga course that you can deliver to your future clients around common health concerns in the current population attending yoga classes

The course construction will be completed as a group project and this will add to your own repertoire for providing your own yoga services to the market or in your business

3 to 5 day residential intensive will be provided to Sydney residents* of the course where you will receive supervised real-world experience at a host employer
*Residential Intensives are only available for students residing within the Sydney area as Host Employers are located within a 25km radius of Sydney. All attempts to secure host employers for students to attend residential intensives will be made but cannot be guaranteed and are subject to both legal and availability in the students state

This course runs for 12 months part time and has a flexible study plan with two options:
FACE TO FACE
In this delivery option, your learning will be through a mixture of self-paced *online learning through the Masters Meridian Student Portal, demonstrations and videos. You will complete a Student Workbook and attend a 2 day live workshop once a month for practical teaching, on-mat experience, discussions, group work and assessments
ON-LINE
In this delivery option, your learning will be through a mixture of self-paced *online learning through the Masters Meridian Student Portal, demonstrations and videos. You will complete a Student Workbook and attend 1 live zoom weekend workshop per month for practical teaching, at home on-mat experience, discussions, group work and assessments.

The course is 500+ hours and requires:
