“Triggered” is a word we hear all the time. Simply living in a neoliberal society with all its expectations can be “triggering.” In terms of mental health, past traumas, difficult experiences, and situational stressors can “trigger” anxiety, shame, overwhelm, and panic.
We often have to work with our triggers or difficult emotions. But what if we actually started to focus on and nurture “glimmers”? For us, this practice moves away from pathologising/deficits and moves towards hope, beauty, and joy. This not only has a positive impact on our mental health but also opens the doors to daily moments of mindfulness. Working with glimmers can itself be a spiritual practice.
