Through practical demonstrations and guided exploration, this course examines how thoughtful prop placement can reduce unnecessary effort and enhance the overall experience of rest.

Rocio will explain how supporting the head can profoundly influence the experience of rest, helping create a sense of safety, ease, and surrender. How supporting the legs can significantly influence the body’s ability to release unnecessary muscular effort, creating a greater sense of stability, grounding, and ease. And how supporting the arms and hands can invite a greater sense of openness, receiving, and release throughout the body.

If you would like to practice along, have a quiet space available with the following props:

  • A yoga mat
  • A yoga block
  • Two blankets
  • Comfortable cushion
  • An eye pillow or eye mask

About the Facilitator:

Rocío Marte is a Restorative and Somatic Yoga Educator based in Australia. She supports individuals and communities in cultivating deep rest, nervous system regulation, and embodied awareness through restorative yoga, somatic practices, and meditation.

With over a decade of experience in yoga and mindful movement, Rocío specialises in practices that help people slow down, reconnect with their bodies, and restore balance in the midst of modern life. Her work integrates restorative yoga, somatic awareness, and yoga Nidra, offering spaces where participants can experience safety, stillness, and meaningful rest.

Rocío is particularly passionate about supporting people who are used to living in constant doing. High achievers, overworkers, and those who find it difficult to pause. Through her work, she helps people gently step out of cycles of overworking and productivity-driven identity, creating space for deep healing through rest, inner reflection, and compassionate awareness.

Her approach invites participants to release guilt around slowing down and to rediscover rest as a powerful and transformative practice. Rocío teaches workshops, trainings, and classes for both students and yoga teachers, with a trauma-aware and nervous-system-informed approach, supporting people in developing sustainable practices for resilience, healing, and a more liberated relationship with rest.
