Biography
| Bio | Jenny Searles is the owner of The Yoga Shed studio in The Hunter Valley. She is also a senior yoga teacher and has been teaching yoga & meditation for over 18 years. She has over 3000hrs of yoga teacher training and is a Level 2 yoga teacher with Yoga Australia. Jenny teaches yoga, breathwork & meditation classes along with providing blissful and transformative sound meditation experiences using her extensive collection of singing bowls & sound tools. Coming to Jenny’s purpose built yoga studio set in permaculture gardens with mountain views is an experience in itself. On top of that you’ll receive senior level teaching that can take your journey beyond just asana and provide practical wellbeing tools for living, Jenny has a deep interest in practically applying yoga and meditation techniques to daily life. In addition to her extensive yoga training, she’s spent long periods of residential time in a yoga centre where these techniques were applied to activities such as working, cooking, eating, self-reflection, stress responses and personality refinement. “The yoga that we do ‘on the mat’ is ultimately the training that allows us to live a more conscious, positively productive and balanced life. We use yoga and meditation techniques to keep our bodies healthy and to learn the pathways that lead us to improved mental and emotional wellbeing.’ Jenny has spent the majority of her adult life applying yoga to her own life to manage physical and health, daily life stressors and to improve her interpersonal relationships. Her deep interest and study of yoga has also helped her develop a strong communion with and appreciation of mother earth. This is exemplified by her dedication to improving the ecosystem on her property through permaculture principles. Jenny has spend the last few decades improving the soil on her property, planting native trees and growing healthy food naturally. A healthy proportion of her diet comes from food grown on her property. As further dedication to sustainable principles she also integrates edible weeds from her property into her diet. She also harvests her own water on the property and utilises solar power on her home. ‘The practice of yoga has allowed me to be less self-focussed and to look at the bigger picture. We are all connected and what we do at one level affects other multiple levels. Much of our misery comes from feeling disconnected from each other and from nature. Rebuilding this relationship, and seeing each other and the earth as an integral part of ‘us’ rather than as a separate commodity to be used for our own benefit is to me, one of the most important undertakings we can dedicate ourselves to. Yoga starts with us…..our mind, our body and eventually what we perceive as our mind, our body becomes larger in definition. What we define as ourselves does not end with the edges of our body.’ Jenny’s wellness offerings span the traditional yoga spectrum and beyond. Jenny offers yoga, meditation, singing bowls, sound baths, chakra balancing, mantra, kirtan, sound massage & a pathway to practically applying yoga skills to lead a more balanced and fulfilling life.
