We are an Australian not-for-profit organisation, with a dedicated team of staff and volunteers located across the country. Our team is available for real-time support via phone or email. With extensive experience in the yoga industry, our staff are well-equipped to provide guidance and assistance to members on a wide range of topics. As the peak body for yoga in Australia, we actively advocate for positive change and advancement within the profession. Our efforts include engaging with government bodies and the health sector, lobbying for improved pay and working conditions for yoga teachers, promoting the broader health and well-being benefits of yoga, hosting industry forums, and collaborating with a diverse range of stakeholders both within and outside the yoga community.
Teacher Training Courses
Level 3 Registered Yoga Australia members are eligible to apply for the registration of a teacher training course, provided it meets the required criteria for certifying graduates as Yoga Australia teaching members. By registering with Yoga Australia, you can significantly enhance the visibility and credibility of your course, making it accessible to over 10,000 prospective students while also gaining access to expert support for teacher training. Registering your course with Yoga Australia offers several benefits: it upholds high standards for yoga teaching training across the country, ensuring only quality courses are recognised. Additionally, graduates can easily join Yoga Australia by submitting their course completion certificate as proof of meeting membership criteria. Your course will also be prominently listed in the Yoga Australia search directory, helping prospective students find and choose your accredited program.
Recognition as a Registered Yoga Professional
As a Registered Teacher you will receive a digital badge that signifies your adherence to our teaching standards and your commitment to upholding the principles of integrity within the yoga tradition. Our badge system is designed to reflect your progress through various stages of your teaching journey, with specialty badges available for Yoga Therapists, Children’s Yoga Teachers, and Prenatal Yoga Teachers. You may choose to display your badge(s) on your website, email signature, business cards, CV or among other professional platforms, to showcase your qualifications and dedication.
Continuing Professional Development

Workshops, Events, and Retreats
The Yoga Australia team organises a variety of community, educational, and professional events and workshops throughout the year. These events are offered in various formats, with some available online and others held in-person. As part of your membership, you are also invited to feature your own workshops, events, and retreats on the Yoga Australia website at no additional cost. The events directory is accessible to both members and non-members, offering enhanced visibility for your events.
Public Teaching Profile
Boost your online presence and increase employment opportunities by featuring your expertise and professional achievements in your personalised public teaching profile. Your teacher profile will be listed in our National Directory, making it visible to individuals searching for a Yoga Australia Registered Teacher. You can enhance your profile by adding photos, class schedules, contact information, qualifications, industry achievements, and testimonials from students, fellow teachers, and colleagues. We recommend including the link to your profile on your CV, LinkedIn, event listings, and other professional platforms to maximise visibility.
Yoga Enthusiast
$72/year
A Yoga Enthusiast is someone passionate about yoga but not currently earning an income from teaching.
Yoga Teacher
$144/year
Perfect if you have entered the exciting world of yoga teaching and are keen to develop into a fully fledged yoga professional.
Yoga Therapist
$33/year (add-on)
For current teaching members who have taken an approved Yoga Therapist Course to work within this specialised space.
What do I need?
- You will need to provide:
- The name of your Yoga Teacher Training School
- A copy of your Teacher Training Certificate/s
- A copy of your valid First Aid Certificate (except Student/Enthusiast members)
- Personal contact details & credit card for payment of your membership (in full)
- Check to see if the Teacher Training you have completed is registered with Yoga Australia or Yoga Alliance. If the course is not registered with either association, we may need you to supply a course outline as well.
- If the Teacher Training you completed was not registered with Yoga Australia, a $99 application fee will apply.
How do I get started?
Step 1. Select your Membership Level from the options which will be added to your ‘cart’.
Step 2. Go to Cart to submit personal contact information and organise the payment.
Step 3: Complete the Online Application Form in full (after the payment page) then click Submit.
Step 4. Review of Application by Yoga Australia to check payment and all documents before approving and setting up your membership. Please allow 5-7 business days for this step.
